Director, Crew Resources Planning - Analysis
Phoenix, AZ
The Director for Crew Resources Planning – Analysis is responsible for providing direction and support to Crew Planning and Analysis to ensure safe, efficient, and productive trip pairings and lines as well as promote and pursue automation and streamline manual processes. Provide leadership and support to the Crew Planning and Analysis team to enable them in turn to provide the best possible service to our crewmembers while maximizing the utilization of our crew resources in the most effective and efficient manner as well as succession planning for long-term growth and success.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide oversight to and lead crew resources staff
- Ensure optimal strategic and tactical pilot and flight attendant staffing, meeting corporate plan and operational goals
- Ensure adherence to FARs, Company and Division policies, procedures, and the collective bargaining agreements
- Responsible for forecasting long-term to short-term staffing, as well as annual budget
- Work with Labor Relations and leadership team to review, evaluate, and negotiate crew labor contracts (pilots and flight attendants)
- Develop and lead implementation of strategy to optimize crew costs and productivity
- Establish processes to improve crew productivity and minimize crew costs
- Ensure crew staff plans comply with contract rules and FAA regulations
- Maintain overall responsibility for Crew Resources performance management; coach/counsel employees; set clear performance standards and goals for team members
- Maintain awareness of best industry practices regarding new technological developments for the continual improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of crew resource management processes
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with other operational managers (e.g. in SOC, Airport Services, In-Flight Services, Chief Pilot's Office) and union leadership; act as Crew Resources liaison with these departments and organizations
- Coordinate cross-departmental communications, primarily with the Flight Ops, InFlight and the OCC leadership teams
- Provide strong leadership in the daily operation and during irregular operations for the development and expeditious handling of the operational recovery plan
- Interact with vendors to provide enhancements to current crew systems and create automation
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Aviation, Business, Economics or related field; advanced degree preferred
- At least 6 years crew management experience
- At least 4 years management experience in the airline industry
- Experience negotiating labor contracts preferred
- Strong analytical, financial and quantitative abilities
- In-depth knowledge of crew management systems (including automation processes and functionality)
- Advanced knowledge of InFlight and Pilot contracts and FAR's
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within the organization as well as with vendors
- High performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility
- Strong leadership capabilities and excellent teamwork
- General knowledge of business administration disciplines (e.g., Finance, Contract Negotiations, Labor Analysis, Labor Relations, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of Crew Resources information systems (e.g., SBS, Mapper, FliteTrac, SHARES, etc.)
- Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office software, including Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
