Manager – Payroll Services
Phoenix, AZ
The Manager for Payroll services will motivate, develop and provide leadership for up to 3 Supervisors and 21 Specialists responsible for processing the Company’s payroll for approximately 35,000 employees. Plan, organize and direct department activities to ensure timely and accurate payrolls are generated.
Responsibilities:
· Manage Payroll Supervisors responsible for the accurate and timely administration, preparation, processing and distribution of payroll activities
· Ensures the payroll is in conformance to Company standards, labor agreements, generally accepted accounting principles and tax regulations
· Oversees payroll programs, processes, policies, system functionality, and the day-to-day management of the payroll operations
· Ensure labor agreements are interpreted correctly
· Researches and resolves payroll disputes
· Identify requirements for system modifications and ensure accurate implementation
· Plans, staffs, supervises and reviews the work of assigned staff
· Motivates, develops, and provides leadership for employees
· Ensures timely and accurate completion of payroll checks, quarter-end and year-end processing
· Responsible for permanent retention of payroll source documents and report records
Requirements:
· Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field
· At least 6 years payroll and accounting experience, including at least 4 years of supervisory experience in a business environment
· Previous experience with system implementation and testing
· Knowledge of tax regulations, accounting and reporting requirements
· Demonstrated outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office software
