Update: A New Scholarship Opportunity

NBAA Scholarship Update
The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and its Flight Attendants Committee recognized the 53 recipients of the 2007 NBAA Flight Attendants/Flight Technicians Scholarship at the association's 12th Annual Flight Attendants Conference. The event drew more than 250 business aviation professionals to San Diego, CA, on June 29 and 30. The scholarship is administered by NBAA and its Flight Attendants Committee, which exists to assist business aviation flight attendants in their roles as crewmembers aboard business aircraft. For more information about the committee, please visit www.nbaa.org/committees/fltatt

In other news, NBAA also recently announced the creation of a new scholarship in honor of David W. Ewald, who passed away on April 19 at home in Connecticut. The David W. Ewald Journalism Scholarship will recognize a promising high school or college student planning a career in journalism, preferably with an aviation focus. The submission deadline is August 15, 2007, and the first recipient will be announced at the NBAA 60th Annual Meeting & Convention in September 2007. Learn more and download the application here.

Finally, the William M. Fanning Maintenance Scholarship is named in honor of retired NBAA staff member William M. Fanning, who was active in maintenance issues during his nearly 20-year tenure at the association. NBAA annually awards $5,000 to two applicants pursuing careers as maintenance technicians. One award will benefit a student who currently is enrolled in an accredited airframe & powerplant (A&P) program at an approved FAR Part 147 school. The second award will benefit an individual who currently is not enrolled but has been accepted for enrollment in an A&P program. A completed and signed application form must be accompanied by an official transcript/letter of acceptance, essay, resume and at least one letter of recommendation. See application form for details. Applications must be received by NBAA on or before August 1, 2007. For more information, contact Jay Evans, director, operations, at (202) 783-9353 or jevans@nbaa.org

A Few Words from A NBAA Veteran and Astronaut
Eugene (Gene Cernan) is known for being the last astronaut to step foot on the Moon. Among other things, he’s an accomplished aviator and spokesman for business aircraft manufacturer, Bombardier Aerospace. Mr. Cernan frequently visits the annual NBAA Meeting & Convention gatherings to promote Bombardier and business aviation in general. Our video crew was honored to speak with him at a past show about the status and future of business aviation and aerospace. We invite you to join us for this historical interview with an aviation legend who offers his insight on the dynamic industry of business aviation and the opportunities within it.
